Renowned Poet Murugan Kattakkada Ignites Malayalam Learning in Ireland’s ‘Ente Malayalam’ Program

Renowned poet and director of Malayalam Mission, Murugan Kattakkada, marked the beginning of the new academic year for “Ente Malayalam” in Waterford, Ireland. “Ente Malayalam,” a Malayalam language learning project for expatriate Malayalis, operates in collaboration with Malayalam Mission and is part of the Waterford Malayalee Association (WMA).

In a program held at the Farronshoneen Youth and Community Center in Waterford, Murugan Kattakkada delivered comprehensive classes to both parents and children, shedding light on the working methods of the Kerala Government’s Malayalam Mission Scheme. He emphasized the significance of the Malayalam language in a unique and engaging manner, leaving a lasting impact on the children.

Murugan Kattakkada, a prominent contemporary poet, discussed the potential future applications of language learning certificates and related government programs initiated by the Kerala government.

The first day of the program saw more than 50 children registering for Malayalam classes, which are scheduled every Saturday from 2 pm for one hour. Children from the 2nd grade and above were encouraged to participate. The entrance festival witnessed enthusiastic participation from teachers, children, and parents.

Jaya Prince, the coordinator for “My Malayalam,” extended a warm welcome, and Tom Nelluveli expressed gratitude during the entrance ceremony. The “My Malayalam” team expressed their appreciation to the participating children, supportive parents, dedicated volunteers, and the Waterford Malayalam Association for their valuable contributions.

This event marks a significant step in promoting the Malayalam language and cultural heritage among the Malayali diaspora in Ireland, further strengthening ties with their roots.
