Almost 7,000 Ukrainian students have enrolled in Irish schools since the start of the war in their home country.
New figures from the Department of Education show that 6,797 Ukrainian pupils have enrolled in schools across Ireland.
4,766 children are attending primary schools, and the remaining 2,031 studying at the secondary level.
Regional Education and Language Teams around the country are helping the students settle into their new surroundings.
Dublin schools have taken the most Ukrainian students with 1,192 enrolments, while Monaghan and Longford have the least, at 21 and 41 respectively.
Schools in Cork have seen 676 enrolments across primary and secondary, Kerry schools have taken in 618 pupils, and schools in Clare have enrolled 514 Ukrainian students.
Minister for Education Norma Foley has said there is space for 25,000 children in primary schools and 20,000 in post-primary.
Ms. Foley said she is “confident” that the education system can meet the challenges of extra students.
