Anti-immigration protests in Dublin and Sligo

Today, there will be protests against racism and in favour of diversity in Dublin and Sligo.

An alliance of community organisations, trade unions, and political parties is organising the Dublin “Ireland for All” solidarity march.

Assembling in Parnell Square at 1:30 pm, supporters will march to the Customs House for a rally featuring speakers and music.

At 2 p.m., there will be a second “Refugees are Welcome” event in Sligo, organised by the Sligo-Leitrim Labour Party.

The marches take place in the midst of an increase in anti-refugee and anti-asylum seeker protests around the nation in recent weeks.

Last year, more than 70,000 Ukrainian refugees entered the nation; yet, the state has struggled to accommodate both these new immigrants and outsiders seeking international protection.
