Blackrock Welcomes Indian-Origin Language Classes, Embracing Linguistic Diversity

In a significant development in Blackrock, Ireland, Malayalam language classes have been officially inaugurated, marking a remarkable step in promoting linguistic diversity. Denis O’Callaghan, the Mayor of Dunlarry County Council, emphasized the universality of language in his speech and noted the growing prominence of Malayalam in Ireland.

The inauguration event for the Malayalam classes, organized by the Malayalam Mission, was held at St. Joseph Malayalam Language School and graced by Mayor Denis O’Callaghan. Reverend Fr. Joseph Mathew Oliakkattil, the National Coordinator for the Syro Malabar Church in Ireland, delivered a benediction speech.

The event was filled with artistic performances highlighting the uniqueness of the Malayalam language, and it attracted a diverse audience, including both children and adults. Over forty children have already registered for Malayalam classes at St. Joseph Malayalam Language School, which collaborates with the Malayalam Mission. These classes are held at the Blackrock Newtown Park Pastoral Center on alternate Sundays.

The Malayalam Language School is led by a team of dedicated teachers, including Raji C. Jacob, Joshi Joseph, Anu Binu, Praseetha Prasad, Melvin Sajan, Irene Nikhil, and Linu P. Babu. The classes are designed to make learning Malayalam engaging and enjoyable, incorporating games and interactive activities for children.
