€23,000 Compensation Awarded To Girl Scalded During Aer Lingus Flight

In a recent development, a seven-year-old girl has been awarded €23,000 in compensation after sustaining burns from scalding hot water on an Aer Lingus flight. The incident occurred on November 30, 2019, as young Roisin Loughnane and her mother were en route from Shannon Airport to Lanzarote Island.

During the flight, while serving tea, an air hostess accidentally spilled scalding hot water onto the girl’s hand. Roisin’s mother subsequently filed a complaint, alleging that insufficient precautions had been taken to prevent such an accident. Fortunately, the child’s injuries were treated and fully healed.

In a resolution reached without a court hearing, a settlement of €23,000 was agreed upon in the Court of Appeal, and it was accepted by all parties involved. This case underscores the importance of safety measures in ensuring the well-being of passengers during air travel.
