Three gardai injured after another night of disorder in Coolock

A man in his 20s was arrested, and three gardaí were injured following unrest at a disused factory in Coolock, Dublin. The factory, set to house around 500 international protection applicants (IPAs), caught fire on Friday night after a protest earlier in the day.

This was the third fire at the site this week, following incidents on Monday and Thursday. Dublin Fire Brigade quickly controlled the fire. During the unrest, rocks and other items were thrown at gardaí, who used incapacitant spray and batons in response.

One garda officer required hospital treatment for facial injuries. The Malahide Road, temporarily closed due to the incident, has since reopened. A rally earlier on Friday had drawn hundreds of attendees, including local councillors and representatives.
