Dublin commuters face months of disruption as the Luas Red Line remains suspended between Connolly and The Point stations until the end of November, following fire damage to the Georges Dock bridge.

An engineering assessment has determined the bridge is structurally compromised and must be demolished, prompting Transport Infrastructure Ireland to implement extensive replacement services for affected passengers.
A dedicated bus service launched Monday, operating every 10 minutes during standard Luas hours. The replacement buses will serve four key stops: George’s Dock beside the Hilton Garden Inn, Mayor Square near The Convention Centre, Spencer Dock at The Mayson Hotel, and The Point adjacent to the 3Arena.
Additional disruption is scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday evenings this week, when services between Smithfield and The Point will cease at 7pm to allow overhead power cable modifications for the demolition work. During these periods, Luas tickets will be valid on Dublin Bus services.
The replacement bus service operates from 5:30am to 12:30am on weekdays, 6:30am to 12:30am on Saturdays, and 7am to 11:30pm on Sundays. Morning commuter services remain unaffected during the evening curtailments.
The suspension affects thousands of daily commuters using one of Dublin’s busiest public transport corridors, connecting the city center to the Docklands business district.
