The Department of Foreign Affairs recruiting Temporary Clerical Officers for the Passport Services, across their Dublin locations Mount Street, Balbriggan, Tallaght, and Swords.
Subject to approval, it is intended to appoint temporary staff from April 2022 to January 2023 to deal with increased passport demand as a result of a pause in the service due to Covid-19 restrictions.
Overview of Role
- Verify passport and citizenship (Foreign Birth Registration – FBR) applications, follow up on incomplete applications.
- Work in a team to meet target delivery dates.
- Identify and report compliance and other issues relating to passport and FBR applications to the team leader.
- Deal with members of the public regarding their applications for passports or entry on the FBR. This is face to face, written, by phone, webchat or email. Resolve customer service queries, provide information on passport and citizenship legislation and policies.
- Use of hardware and software, including scanning devices, pcs and application systems.
- General administrative tasks as required.
Assignments will be temporary. The duration and period of a temporary contract will vary from post to post. There is no entitlement to a permanent position.
As the passport and FBR processes are automated, candidates must have a good working set of Windows-based computer skills.
Attendance in the office 5 days a week is required
Flexi time available.
Salary €485.60 Weekly.
Eligibility to compete and certain restrictions on eligibility
(a) A citizen of the European Economic Area (EEA). The EEA consists of the Member States of the European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway; or
(b) A citizen of the United Kingdom (UK); or
(c) A citizen of Switzerland pursuant to the agreement between the EU and Switzerland on the free movement of persons; or
(d) A non-EEA citizen who is a spouse or child of an EEA or UK or Swiss citizen and has a stamp 4 visa; or
(e) A person awarded international protection under the International Protection Act 2015 or any family member entitled to remain in the State as a result of family reunification and has a stamp 4 visa or
(f) A non-EEA citizen who is a parent of a dependent child who is a citizen of, and resident in, an EEA member state or the UK or Switzerland and has a stamp 4 visa

- Candidates must supply a valid Photo ID with their application. Applications made without a valid Photo ID will not be considered.
- Depending on the number of applications received, a shortlisting process may be used to select a number of candidates to be invited to interview.
