A spring Covid-19 booster immunisation scheme will be launched by the Health Service Executive (HSE) for specific groups.
The initiative is available to those who are at least 70 years old, residing in long-term care homes for seniors, and those with weakened immune systems who are at least five years old.
A booster shot can be obtained by those who qualify through a participating doctor’s office, pharmacy, or Community Vaccination Centre (CVC).
The Covid-19 booster must be taken at least three months after a previous Covid-19 vaccination or after a Covid-19 infection for those who are eligible.
HSE mobile vaccination teams will provide vaccines to inhabitants of long-term care institutions for senior citizens over the coming weeks.
Children under the age of 12 with weakened immune systems will receive vaccinations at CVCs.
According to the HSE, this Covid-19 boosting initiative will be finished by the end of May.
According to the statement, doing so will provide them the time needed to complete the Covid-19 booster course in spring and receive their subsequent booster dosage combined with a flu shot in the fall.
individuals’s immune systems deteriorate with age, especially in elderly individuals, according to Eileen Whelan, HSE National Lead, Covid-19 Vaccination Programme.
This group’s immune to infection will also be strengthened by the booster, according to the speaker, keeping them safe from serious illness.
On its website, www.hse.ie, the HSE claimed to provide online vaccination clinics.
GPs and participating pharmacies are also able to provide people with a booster shot.
