IKEA has opened its seventh plan and order point in Ireland, with the new Waterford location becoming the company’s largest store outside Dublin.

The 840m² store at Tramore Road Business Park is over eight times larger than IKEA’s other existing plan and order points in Ireland, which typically range from 70-100m². The new location introduces an enhanced plan and order point experience, a first for IKEA in Ireland.
While retaining IKEA’s core focus on kitchen, wardrobe, and living room storage planning, the Waterford store uniquely features 100 IKEA products available for immediate purchase, including accessories like KALLAX units and RÅSKOG trolleys.
The store also provides click and collect services for any IKEA item ordered online and serves as an in-store returns location. For efficiency, the new location operates on a cashless basis, accepting only card and digital payments.
IKEA Ireland Market Manager Jayne Owen Gauld said the opening represents “a pivotal moment in our mission to make IKEA more accessible and convenient for everyone across Ireland.” She expressed confidence that the new format would “perfectly cater to the needs of this wonderful community and the entire Southeast.”
Waterford Mayor Cllr Séamus Ryan welcomed the opening, describing it as marking “the beginning of IKEA’s expansive plans across Ireland.” He praised the company for bringing “their global reputation for accessible and modern living solutions to Waterford.”
The new store aims to serve customers across the Southeast region with enhanced planning expertise and convenient services.
