Indian-origin, Tarun Kanyamarala becomes Ireland’s youngest-ever International Master by winning the Fide’s IM Title at the age of 17 years.
He beats the record held by Brian Kelly (for 24 years) who was 20 when he claimed the title in 1998.
Last month, Tarun won the 101st Irish Chess Championship, which was held in Dublin, and he became the 50th person to hold the Irish Chess Champion Perpetual trophy, which dates back to 1912.
