Ireland launches pilot to expand EV charging access via homeowner participation

EV charging network EasyGo has partnered with the Department of Transport to roll out a first-of-its-kind national pilot scheme designed to address one of the biggest barriers to electric vehicle adoption in Ireland.

The new Shared Charging Initiative aims to solve the challenge faced by many urban and suburban residents who do not have access to off-street parking — and therefore, home EV charging.

Through this initiative, homeowners can list their private EV chargers on the EasyGo platform and share them with neighbours and the public, creating a community-powered solution that improves charging accessibility in a practical and inclusive way.

The pilot will initially launch in selected areas: Kilcock (Co Kildare), Dingle (Co Kerry), and the Dublin neighbourhoods of Finglas, Stoneybatter, and Phibsborough.

Homeowners in these locations who are interested in participating can apply via the EasyGo website.
