The number of new job vacancies on hiring platform IrishJobs fell by 9 per cent in the fourth quarter of 2024.

Sectors such as manufacturing, IT, finance, and science recorded decreases in job postings, according to the latest Jobs Index from IrishJobs.
Despite several high-profile companies calling employees back to the office, the level of hybrid working vacancies remained unchanged. The share of hybrid roles has held steady at 10.7 per cent of total vacancies for the second consecutive quarter.
IrishJobs stated that the findings suggest hybrid work will continue to be a significant part of the Irish labour market, even as employers reassess remote working policies.
Meanwhile, the number of fully remote vacancies has dropped by more than 80 per cent since its peak in third quarter of 2022. By the end of 2024, fully remote roles made up just 2.3 per cent of total job vacancies, nearing their lowest level since 2019.
According to IrishJobs, this trend indicates that fully remote work opportunities will likely remain stable at a relatively low, near pre-pandemic level throughout 2025 and beyond.
