Masked Anti-Immigration Protesters Dispersed by Gardaí Outside Taoiseach’s Home

A small group of masked protesters gathered outside Taoiseach Simon Harris’s family home in Greystones, Co. Wicklow on Friday evening, demanding he “close the borders.” Carrying Irish flags and making calls for “mass deportations” and clearing tents, the protesters concealed their identities with scarves and face masks.

Gardaí arrived at the scene shortly before 8pm and instructed the protesters to leave, which they did promptly. A spokesperson stated, “Gardaí engaged with those present and instructed them to immediately leave the area, which they complied with. We have no further comment to make at this time.”

This incident lasted only a few minutes, and no further action was taken. Simon Harris, who lives with his wife and two young children, has not commented on the incident.

The Taoiseach had previously expressed concerns over a similar protest at his home in May, stressing that family homes should be off-limits for protests. The earlier demonstration involved over a dozen people holding banners with slogans like ‘close the borders’ and ‘house the Irish first.’
