In Co Mayo, a single vehicle collision claimed the life of a 22-year-old woman and injured two other people.
Around 9.15 p.m. last night, the woman was killed when the car she was driving went off the road and into a ditch at Corlough West in Béal an Mhuirthead.
Her body has been transported to Mayo University Hospital, where a post-mortem will be performed.
Both of the car’s passengers, a man and a woman in their early 20s, were taken with non-life-threatening wounds to MUH.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses, particularly any road users with camera footage (including dash cam) to contact Belmullet Garda Station on 097 81910, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any garda station.
The road where the crash occurred is closed and local diversions are in place.
