Ireland is set to bask in what meteorologists are calling a mini heatwave this week, with temperatures expected to reach highs of 19C across the country, making it one of the warmest periods of the year so far.

Met Éireann forecaster Aoife Kealy confirmed that Monday will kick off the warm spell with “mostly dry and sunny” conditions, setting the tone for what promises to be an unseasonably pleasant working week. “Throughout much of the working week, it is going to continue to be dry, with plenty of sunshine and daytime temperatures gradually increasing,” Kealy explained.
The favorable weather pattern will persist through Tuesday and Wednesday, with forecasts showing “virtually unbroken sunshine” and temperatures consistently reaching between 14C and 18C, accompanied by light easterly breezes. By Friday, temperatures are expected to be “widely in the high teens,” according to Met Éireann’s Deirdre Lowe.
Despite the warm days ahead, residents should prepare for significantly cooler nights, with temperatures dropping to between 0C and 6C after sunset. Patches of mist and fog are also expected to develop overnight throughout the week.
The national meteorological service has indicated that this pleasant weather interlude will likely conclude by Sunday, when showers are possible accompanied by “a slight decrease in temperatures.” Looking further ahead, conditions are expected to become “more changeable and unsettled” from April 14, particularly in eastern regions where wetter than normal conditions are anticipated, while western areas may remain relatively dry.
