Significant Drop In Sinn Féin’s Support In Opinion Polls

Dublin – Recent opinion polls in Ireland have revealed a significant decline in support for the Sinn Féin party, which had seen a sharp rise in popularity. According to the Sunday Independent/Ireland Thinks poll, Sinn Féin has lost four percentage points of its vote share since the budget, with their projected support now at 31%. This marks a noticeable setback for the party.

In contrast, the government parties have seen an uptick in approval ratings. Fine Gael, up by two percentage points, is projected to win 21% of the vote, while Fianna Fáil, up by one point, is up to 18%. Support for the Green Party remains steady at 4%.

The Social Democrats maintain their 5% support, while the Solidarity-People Before Profit parties may gain up to 4%, and Labor at 3%. New polls suggest that independents and other smaller parties may secure between 1% and 14% of the vote.

Notably, the ratings of all three Coalition leaders have increased, while Sinn Féin leader Mary Lou McDonald’s popularity has seen a slight decline. Support for the current coalition has also risen by four points to 41%. This suggests that the three ruling coalition partners could potentially secure enough votes to form a government if a general election were held today.
