Urgent recall for popular hoodie sold in Ireland over strangulation fears

A popular hoodie that was sold in Ireland has been urgently recalled due to safety concerns.

Because the drawstrings on the North Face Teen’s Oversized Hoodie face a strangulation risk, customers are being urged to return them. The affected items’ product code is 7X4U.

The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission issued a recall notice for the item on Wednesday.

The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission claims that the hoods of the hoodies have “drawstrings with free ends” that can get “trapped during various activities of a child leading to strangulation.”

A total of 68 of the hoodies were sold in the Republic of Ireland after the products went on sale in July 2022.

Customers who want a full refund are being urged by The North Face to bring the item back to the store where it was purchased. The clothing giant is also offering to arrange collections.

You can contact the company for more details by emailing tnf.ukshop@vfc.com.
