US President in Ireland: Road closures ahead of Joe Biden visit to Dublin Airport, Phoenix Park, and Dail Eireann

While US President Joe Biden is scheduled to visit Dublin on Wednesday and Thursday, the public is advised to make plans in advance and be ready for detours.

He will arrive at Dublin Airport on Wednesday and visit there throughout the trip.  Although the transportation hub is anticipated to function normally, there may be some diversions and traffic delays on the way there during the four-day visit, Dublin Live reported.

According to Gardai, the trip’s focus will be Dublin on Thursday, April 13. He will go to South Dublin City Center and Phoenix Park.

Since this morning at seven, there have been parking restrictions in effect on Earlsfort Terrace, Leeson Street Lower, Hatch Street Lower, Castle Street, and Ship Street. These will stay in place until Saturday, April 15.

Then on Tuesday from 7am Earlsfort Terrace will shut completely to traffic. Pedestrian access to businesses will be via Hatch Street only. This will also be in place until Saturday.

Wednesday and Thursday will see the Phoenix Park, including Dublin Zoo, shut to the public from 5pm Wednesday until 5pm Thursday. There will only be local and essential access to the park.

A garda spokesman said: “Specific details on further local road closures, parking restrictions and traffic diversions for Louth, Dublin and Mayo will be published in the coming days.”

“Our objective is to continue to share as much information with the public where necessary as soon as we are in a position to do so. We would ask members of the public to heed the advice and instructions of Gardaí and we thank them for their continuing co-operation.

“Members of the Public travelling in the affected areas are be asked to plan their journeys during this period to ensure to leave enough time for possible traffic disruptions and to expect some localised delays.”
