A 26-year-old Irish tourists body was reportedly found in a river in Switzerland on Monday following a two-day search, according to police.
The Irish man was reported missing on Saturday night in Lauterbrunnen, in the Swiss Alps, and the Bernese cantonal police launched an inquiry, said the police.
Police said they carried out the search for the missing man along with mountain experts and a police search dog.
The man’s body was discovered in the Lütschine River on Monday evening close to Zweilütschinen (Gündlischwand municipality).
The body of the victim was recovered from the water by Lake Police Response Forces.
Police said support is being provided to the man’s relatives and an investigation by the Regional Public Prosecutor’s Office is under way in order to “clarify the events”.
The Department of Foreign Affairs here said it is aware of the case and is providing consular assistance.
