Today marks the start of the Leaving Certificate and Junior Cycle exams for 136,160 students across Ireland. Exams are being held in 817 venues, beginning with English and running until June 25th.
Students are advised to know their timetables, and maintain good eating and sleeping habits during this period. Former President of the Institute of Guidance Counsellors, Betty McLoughlin, emphasized the importance of arriving early.
“Arrive at your exam center by 9 AM, bring your exam number, pencils, biros, and necessary tools for each subject,” she advised. “Being early helps you settle in and feel more relaxed.”
Minister for Education Norma Foley praised the students’ hard work. “You’ve faced challenges, but you’ve made it to this point. Give it your best over the coming days. Good luck to all.”
Teachers’ Union of Ireland President, David Waters, reminded students not to dwell on one tough exam. “It’s going to be a challenging few weeks, but most of the hard work is done. Stay strong and keep moving forward.”
