Ambassador Akhilesh Mishra hosts luncheon for newly elected Indian-origin councillors in Ireland

Indian Ambassador to Ireland Akhilesh Mishra on Friday met newly elected councillors from the Indian community for a luncheon at the embassy in Dublin.

The Indian envoy, along with his wife Reeti, congratulated the elected councillors on their wins in the June 7th local county council polls.

Among the councillors who attended the meeting were Baby Pereppadan (Fine Gael), Feljin Jose (Green Party), Punam Rane (Fine Gael), and Supriya Singh (Fine Gael).

Pereppadan, the Fine Gael councillor, scripted history as he became the first Indian-origin person to be elected a mayor in Ireland. He was elected as the mayor of South Dublin County Council.

The meeting was also attended by other prominent diaspora members.
