An Post has announced that the price of a standard stamp will rise by 25 cent to €1.65 later this month.

The increase, which takes effect on 27 February for personal customers and 1 March for business users, reflects rising wage costs, higher operational expenses, and a continued decline in letter volumes.
Letter volumes have dropped 8 per cent in the past year, 40 per cent since 2017, and by half over the past decade, according to An Post.
The company reported that 93 per cent of letters now come from businesses or Government bodies, with just 7 per cent being personal correspondence.
The cost of international stamps will also increase from €2.20 to €2.65, alongside rises for large envelopes, packets, and parcels sent abroad. Digital stamps will increase by 22 cent to €2.22.
Despite the price hikes, nursing and care homes will continue to receive post for free throughout 2025, and stamp discounts for SMEs will remain.
An Post says the new pricing aligns with global trends and remains lower than the UK benchmark of €1.88 for next-day letter service.
