Tánaiste Micheál Martin has confirmed that an energy credit, set to be announced in Budget 2025, will be paid to households before the end of the year, RTE reported.
With Budget 2025 just two weeks away, discussions are continuing on its final details, with Martin expected to meet with other Government party leaders to further shape the budget tonight.
While the exact details are still being worked out, the Tánaiste said he could not say at this point whether households would receive one or two energy credits.
He emphasised that at least one credit would be issued this year, providing some relief to households dealing with high energy costs.
Martin highlighted that the rising cost of living remains a top priority for Budget 2025, as many households continue to feel the strain of inflation. Despite inflation slowing, many people are still facing elevated prices across various sectors, keeping the cost of living high on the agenda.
Housing and healthcare are also expected to be central themes in the upcoming budget, he added.
