Community mourns passing of Ulahannan Philipose Philip

Funeral services scheduled for Saturday in Kerala as Irish community member loses father

Ulahannan Philipose Philip, a native of Ayarkunnam and member of the Thoppil family, has passed away. His son Sunil resides in Ireland as part of the Irish Malayali community.

The body will be brought to the family residence today, Friday, October 31, 2025, at 5pm. Funeral services will commence at 10am on Saturday, November 1, at the residence, with burial to follow at Cheppumpara Marthmariam Church.

Philip is survived by his wife Etsamma, a member of the Peruvachira family of Pala Kizhaparayar, and his children Shiny and Sunil. His sons-in-law are Tomichan Padinjaril of Thudanga Nadu, who works with the Kerala State Agricultural Development Bank in Cheruthoni, and Rajees Kollamthuvayallil of Ilampally.

The news was shared by Roni Kurishingalparambil on behalf of the family and community.

Members of the Irish Malayali community have expressed condolences to Sunil Thoppil Philip and his family during this difficult time. The passing comes just ahead of Kerala Piravi Day celebrations scheduled for November 1, when Malayali communities worldwide commemorate the formation of Kerala state.

The family requests prayers and support as they gather to honor Ulahannan Philipose Philip’s memory.
