A Covid patient discharged from the hospital following the forced intervention by anti-vaccination campaigners died. Joe McCarron (75) died at Letterkenny University Hospital on Friday after he was readmitted as the disease became severe.
McCarron was admitted in the hospital due to Covid complications earlier, but on Tuesday some anti-vaccine campaigners entered the hospital and claimed that he was being forced into ICU and encouraged him to leave immediately. They also forced to sign himself for discharge from the hospital, reports The Journal.
The hospital authority had warned that it would be dangerous to stop hospital treatment but Mr. McCarron was taken out by the so called Freedom on the Land Movement campaigners on the same day. They also convinced the poor man that he would die if treated at the hospital.
Just after two days, the patient was again rushed to the hospital after the Covid infection became severe. He was given ventilator facility but lost life later in the early hours of Friday.
The relatives of the deceased slammed the anti-vaccine campaigners and said McCarron’s wife had earlier apologized the hospital for the reckless act of campaigners. The Taoiseach Micheal Martin also had criticized the anti-vaccination campaigners after their intervention at the hospital.
