Dublin Airport records busiest ever month with 3.54 million passengers

Dublin Airport achieved unprecedented passenger numbers in June, breaking multiple records as 3.54 million travelers passed through its terminals in the busiest month in the airport’s history.

The June figures represent a nearly 6% increase compared to the same month last year, according to operator DAA. The surge demonstrates the continued recovery and growth in air travel demand through Ireland’s primary gateway.

The airport also recorded its busiest single day ever on Sunday, with 129,000 passengers departing and arriving. This milestone highlights the intense pressure on Dublin Airport’s infrastructure during peak travel periods.

Between June 23rd and 29th, both Dublin and Cork airports experienced their busiest week on record. Over 850,000 passengers traveled through Dublin Airport during that seven-day period, while Cork Airport handled 85,000 passengers.

The record-breaking numbers underscore the strong performance of Ireland’s aviation sector and the country’s appeal as both a tourist destination and transit hub. The figures also reflect the broader recovery in international travel following the disruptions of recent years.

DAA’s management of both airports during this peak period will be closely watched, particularly given ongoing debates about Dublin Airport’s capacity constraints and infrastructure needs. The record passenger volumes highlight both the success of Ireland’s aviation industry and the challenges of managing unprecedented demand levels.
