Seven food businesses were slapped with closure orders last month due to inadequate hygiene practices, according to the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI).

An Eddie Rockets outlet in Point Village, Dublin 1, was served with a closure order under EU regulations due to rodent activity and “significant deficits” in food safety standards. Inspectors reported that open food containers likely contaminated by rodents could harbor dangerous pathogens, including Salmonella spp.
PY Fast Food Food Stall on Moore Street, also in Dublin 1, received a closure order for failing to properly store meat and lacking adequate hygiene practices.
Five additional establishments were shut down under the FSAI Act for various violations: China Palace in Co Roscommon, Stela Foods in Co Louth, Yomari Foods Ltd in Co Roscommon, Stela Food Stores in Dublin 15, and Republic of Grill in Co Limerick.
Closure orders are issued when conditions pose, or are likely to pose, a serious and immediate threat to public health.
