Dublin Fire Brigade is looking to buy unwanted, outdated cars, vans, and other vehicles from Dubliners so that firefighters can practice for car crash exercises.
Dublin Fire Brigade posted on Twitter: “Need to get rid of an old car? You can donate an end-of-life car to us for Road Traffic Collision training for new recruits and up-skilling of Firefighters.
“We’ll arrange collection for free in the Dublin area and issue the appropriate certificate,” they added.
The Dublin Fire Brigade claims that they will accept donations of all kinds of vehicles, including buses, vans, and heavy-duty trucks in addition to old cars.
An end-of-life certificate will also be given to residents of the greater Dublin area who want to donate their used cars to the Dublin Fire Brigade.
They confirmed: “We will arrange for a contractor to collect your vehicle in the greater Dublin area and to issue an end-of-life certificate. You must have the vehicle’s Vehicle Licence Certificate (VLC) or logbook.”
According to Dublin Fire Brigade, 50 vehicles are donated to their training facility each year. However, ten newly hired firefighters must attend a two-week Road Traffic Collision Operators course, which can require up to 25 cars.
