Dublin’s housing crisis is driving workers away, says a recent survey by Dublin Chamber. High costs and scarce accommodation have prompted two-thirds of city businesses to lose staff. Additionally, many potential employees are declining Dublin offers due to housing woes.
To combat this, a third of companies are offering temporary or subsidized housing. Yet, many still grapple with the issue.
The survey, with 200 participants, highlights housing as a pivotal election concern. Businesses are urging increased housing supply and infrastructure focus in the upcoming budget.
Eric McGibney, Director of Public and International Affairs, advocates for government support to bolster affordable housing. He stresses the need to lift building restrictions in populous areas and establish more residential zones with public transit access.
Survey respondents also champion remote work as a key strategy for talent attraction and retention.
