The Advanced Manufacturing Training Centre of Excellence (AMTCE) in Dundalk will receive an investment of €11 million from the government.
During a visit to the centre, Minister of Further and Higher Education, Innovation, and Science Simon Harris made the announcement and confirmed that it had been given the go-ahead to name the main contractor to finish the building project.
The €11 million investment will be put to use to finish the renovations, do exterior work, expand the centre, and purchase new hardware and software.
The AMTCE provides training programmes in industries like food processing, cybersecurity, additive manufacturing, robotics, and biopharma.
This most recent round of funding has been welcomed by the Louth and Meath Education and Training Board (LMETB), which oversees the centre.
“We’re delighted that the crucial role of the AMTCE has been recognised at the highest levels of Government,” said Martin O’Brien, Chief Executive of LMETB.
“The investment by the Department of Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science through SOLAS is proof of the importance of such a facility to the future of crucial sectors of the Irish economy,” Mr O’Brien said.
