Earthquake felt in Co Donegal early morning

A 2.5 magnitude earthquake that occurred near Co. Donegal early this morning has been confirmed by the Irish National Seismic Network (INSN).

According to the report, the 2.5-magnitude earthquake in Glenveagh National Park happened soon after 1.30 am at a depth of around 5 kilometres.

The occurrence reportedly caused seismic stations across the nation to capture data, and the INSN claims to have heard reports that it was felt throughout the Donegal region.

The primary objective of the INSN is to locate and identify earthquakes that occur in and close to Ireland, but it can also identify significant earthquakes that occur elsewhere in the world.

Irish stations’ measurements are used in the global study of these earthquakes.

The INSN is requesting that anybody who experienced the occurrence this morning submit a report on the website.
