The Republic of Ireland Women’s National Team will travel to Turkey for a training camp to aid their preparation for the upcoming FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifier away to Georgia.
Team manager Vera Pauw’s squad will spend nine days in Antalya and take on the Philippines in an international friendly game on Sunday, June 19th.
This is all part of the preparations for the Group A qualifier against Georgia on Monday, June 27th in Gori, which will kick off at 17:00 Irish Time.
Pauw will confirm the WNT squad for the Georgia camp on June 15th prior to departure for Turkey.
Vera Pauw’s side continues their bid to reach a first-ever major tournament against the Group A minnows in Gori on Monday, 27 June [KO 5 pm Irish time]. Ireland enjoyed a record-breaking 11-0 win against Georgia last November in Dublin.
Ireland’s three remaining games consist of Georgia this month, and Finland and Slovakia in September.
Ireland captain Katie McCabe said that they had to focus on the 3 games left in the group
“It was a tough game, we knew it was going to be a battle.
They’re not the second-best in the world for no reason, but we went into the game fully concentrating on ourselves and what we had to do. A point away against Sweden – not a bad result.
“It’s another point on our way to qualifying for the World Cup. We’ve got three more massive games, so we’re another step ahead. We continue on now and our focus will be on Georgia in June.”
“We’ve got Finland, Slovakia away, and then obviously a big game against Georgia away as well. Step by step – we’re fully focused on the job at hand so hopefully, we’ll get there”
