Finance Minister Announces Early Release of Budget 2025

Finance Minister Jack Chambers has announced that Budget 2025 will be presented on Tuesday, October 1, one week earlier than usual. Speaking on RTÉ’s Morning Ireland, Chambers explained that this date aligns with the necessary budgetary and fiscal frameworks required by October 15. He emphasized that the early date does not signal an impending general election, stating the government is committed to completing its full term.

Chambers noted that this year’s budget would be more stringent compared to previous years. He aims to return to a regular budgetary environment, moving away from the extraordinary measures taken during the COVID-19 pandemic and periods of high inflation. The focus will be on improving living standards and providing support to households and families still facing financial pressures from recent inflation.

Despite the earlier date, Chambers assured that the timeline for the social welfare and finance bills would remain unchanged, concluding by late November or early December.
