Former Taoiseach Enda Kenny has been diagnosed with cancer but expects to make a full recovery.
The 71-year-old former leader of Fine Gael recently underwent surgery to remove tissue from under his arm.
A spokesperson for the former Mayo TD said Kenny does not wish to comment further on the illness.
Mr Kenny served as a TD from 1975 to 2020 and became leader of FineGael in 2002 before serving as Taoiseach between 2011 and 2017. He still works as an advisor and consultant and is chairman of an advisory council for a private equity group that invests in Ireland with Irish-American charities.
