As Electric Picnic, Ireland’s largest music festival, prepares to kick off today at Stradbally Hall, Gardaí have issued a strong appeal for safety and vigilance among the 75,000 attendees expected over the next four days.
The festival, which opens its gates at 4 pm for early entry ticket holders, promises a weekend of music, arts, and entertainment, but Gardaí are keen to ensure that the fun doesn’t come at the cost of safety. Officers will be out in force on all routes leading to the site, managing traffic flow and ensuring that both festival-goers and local residents can travel with minimal disruption.
For those not attending the festival, Gardaí advise avoiding the Stradbally area, particularly those en route to Rosslare Port, and suggest alternative routes to ease congestion.
In a bid to reduce traffic and enhance safety, a Garda spokesperson has strongly encouraged attendees to use public transport wherever possible. The spokesperson emphasized the importance of planning journeys carefully and being mindful of others, both on the road and within the festival grounds.
Electric Picnic, known for its eclectic lineup and vibrant atmosphere, remains the highlight of the Irish festival calendar. With such a large crowd expected, Gardaí are urging all attendees to look out for one another and prioritize safety as they enjoy the weekend.
