Dublin, Ireland – The Land Development Agency (LDA) is taking a significant step towards resolving the housing crisis by partnering with Glenveagh, one of Ireland’s largest construction companies, to construct 69 new homes in West Dublin. These homes, located at Wilkinson’s Brook in Hollystown, are part of a cost rental scheme, which will aim to provide affordable housing options.
The cost rental scheme is designed to cater to households with an income of less than €66,000 in Dublin and €59,000 outside of Dublin. Those eligible for this scheme should not be receiving other social housing assistance or own a house. This initiative seeks to address the housing needs of individuals who do not qualify for the social housing scheme but still struggle to find affordable accommodation.
The construction at Wilkinson’s Brook is part of the LDA’s broader Project Start, which endeavors to build 5,000 houses by 2026, with work already underway on 3,500 of these units. Importantly, all construction is taking place on government-owned land, signaling a concerted effort to alleviate the housing shortage in the region. This project is a promising development towards achieving more accessible housing options for residents in need.
