Indian-origin nurse Krishnakumar from Northern Ireland passes away at 37

Krishnakumar (37), an Indian-origin nurse who had been living in Newry, Northern Ireland, has passed away following a prolonged illness. He died on February 14.

Krishnakumar was a staff nurse at Daisy Hill Hospital in Newry, where he had been working since 2021. In a short span of time, he earned deep respect from colleagues and patients alike for his compassion, professionalism and dedication to care.

He was diagnosed with cancer while actively serving in his role. Despite undergoing surgery and intensive treatment, his condition worsened. As part of his ongoing treatment, he returned home last year.

Beyond his professional life, Krishnakumar was an active presence in the Indian-origin community and associations in Newry. Friends remember him as someone who carried a constant smile and encouraged others even during his own difficult days.

His untimely passing has left the wider Indian-origin community in Ireland and Northern Ireland in mourning.

He is survived by his wife Varsha, who works as a nurse in Ireland, and their six-year-old son, Ram Krishnakumar. Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced later.
