Indian woman’s death in Cork: 42-year-old husband faces murder trial

A 42-year-old man, charged with the murder of his wife at their home in Cork in 2023, has gone on trial at the Central Criminal Court in Cork.

Regin Parithapara Rajan is accused of killing his wife, Deepa Paruthiyezhuth Dinamani, at Cardinal Court in Wilton, Cork, on July 14th, 2023.

Arraigned on Monday morning, Rajan pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Dinamani, a 38-year-old chartered accountant from Kerala, India, had recently moved to Ireland and was the mother of a young son. She worked in accounting and finance at Alter Domus in Cork’s Airport Business Park.

The trial is expected to last up to three weeks and will include testimony from a significant number of witnesses.

Dinamani was pronounced dead at her home on the evening of July 14th, 2023. A postmortem examination was conducted at Cork University Hospital by State pathologist Dr. Linda Mulligan.

Following her death, an iDonate fundraiser helped cover the costs of repatriating her body to India for burial. A candlelight vigil was also held outside her home two days after her passing.
