Are you ready to squeeze in a read? Ireland Reads, is giving everyone a chance on February 25th, 2022. It could be a 1 minute read, 10 minutes or even hours, but if you want to find some time to enjoy reading, then here’s the chance.
Ireland Reads is an initiative of public libraries in partnership with Children’s Book Ireland, NALA, booksellers, publishers and others to encourage reading among everyone; irrespective of your age.
Stuart Hamilton, Head of Libraries development at the Local Government Management Agency, introduced Ireland Reads, a new national day to celebrate reading on 25th February, 2021. Their motto is ‘Squeeze In A Read’.
Many libraries in Ireland are also organising special events for the day. Blanchardstown library has organised 2 Junior events with author Alan Nolan, author of childrens books. His latest release is ‘Animal Crackers, Fantastic facts about your favorite animals’. This book was written by Alan Nolan and Sarah Webb.
How To Get Books
The libraries in Ireland are well connected. If you have membership in a public library of any county, you are allowed to borrow books from a different county. Even if you are unable to return the books in a particular library, you can always return them to your closest library. They will send back to the original library.
To borrow books, we can either use your closest library or read e-books through their online services such as Borrow Box, Libby or PressReader.
How To Choose A Book To Read
If it’s been so long since you sat down and relaxed by reading a book and now you have no idea where to start, then Ireland Reads would help you with that as well. Depending upon the time and your current mood for reading, they would suggest books for you. These can be found at the library or at any bookshops.
So, what are you waiting for? Log on to Ireland Reads, take a pledge that you will read for these many minutes/hours and find out how many minutes people all over Ireland will be reading on 25th February, 2022.
