Irish national killed in car crash in Australia

An Irish teenager has died in a horror car crash in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The incident, which saw two vehicles collide shortly before 1.30am on Sunday, took place in a district about three hours from Melbourne.

The 18-year-old was thrown from the car when it collided with a second vehicle.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two other Irish men, aged 30 and 21, were travelling in the same car and are being treated in hospital with serious injuries.

The female driver of the second car was also taken to hospital as a precaution.

A spokesperson for Victoria police said: “Sadly, a young man has died following a two-car collision in Cobden this morning.

“It is believed the two vehicles collided at the intersection of Bond Street and Cross Forest Road about 1.20am.

“Police have cordoned off the intersection and await Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives who are heading to the scene.”
