Historic Milestone: First Indian-Origin Solicitor in Ireland Ascends to Notary Public Status
Jaya Jayadev, Ireland’s trailblazing Malayali solicitor, has secured yet another historic milestone by becoming the nation’s first Indian-born notary public.
With this monumental achievement, Jaya solidifies her status as a pioneering figure in Ireland’s legal arena, breaking barriers and reshaping the landscape of legal services for the Indian community.
Having already made waves as Ireland’s first Indian solicitor, Jaya’s latest feat marks a significant stride towards greater accessibility and convenience for Indians seeking notary services. With her appointment as a notary public, Jaya will now offer a comprehensive range of notarial services, eliminating the need for Indians to seek out other notaries and streamlining the process for those in search of legal authentication.
“I am happy to be able to offer all notary services to the Indian community here in Ireland,” Jaya remarked, emphasizing her commitment to serving the needs of her fellow Indians. “It’s a privilege to be able to provide this vital service and to contribute to making legal processes more accessible and efficient for everyone.”
Jaya’s story unfolds against the backdrop of Kerala’s verdant landscapes, where she laid the foundation for her legal career before earning her stripes on the Kerala Bar Council in 1991. However, it was her bold leap across oceans to Ireland in 2001 that marked the beginning of her extraordinary odyssey.
From her humble beginnings as a legal executive, Jaya’s ascent was swift and steadfast, culminating in her qualification as a solicitor in the UK through the rigorous Qualifying Lawyers Transfer Test program. Yet, it was her groundbreaking achievement in 2009 that truly solidified her place in legal history, as the first Indian to conquer Ireland’s formidable lawyers transfer test.
Today, as she heads Louis Kennedy Solicitors in Dublin, Jaya’s expertise in property and lease matters serves as a beacon of guidance and support for clients from all walks of life.
Supported by her husband, Jayadev Menon, and their accomplished children, Poornima and Aravind, Jaya’s journey from Kerala to Ireland embodies the spirit of innovation and perseverance.
As she continues to break down barriers and pave the way for future generations of legal professionals, her legacy serves as an inspiration to all who dare to dream and defy expectations.
