A man in his 50s has been arrested for stealing bicycles in Crumlin, Dublin. 16 stolen bikes were seized by the Garda following the arrest on Tuesday around 5.30 pm.
It is believed that the man is a serial thief of pedal bicycles and the Garda was setting up a meeting with the suspect which was looked like a sale deal. The man attended for the meeting with a stolen bicycle and the original owner of the bicycle identified the bicycle. Subsequently the Garda arrested the man.
He is currently detained in Crumlin Garda station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
In the follow up search, the Garda seized 15 more bicycles from a property in Dublin 8. All of these are believed to be stolen at different times and have a total value of €7,000.
