Gardaí investigating a suspected acid attack in Belfast, that caused the victim “life-altering” injuries.
The victim, who is in his 20s, was sitting on a street in the south of the city when he was approached and had a liquid thrown in his face by a male who ran off.
A man, aged 39, has since been released on bail pending further investigations following the incident.
The attack happened in the Botanic Avenue area of Belfast at around 2.45 pm.
The victim suffered potentially life-altering injuries to his chest and face. He was taken to the hospital for treatment of his injuries.
Detective Inspector Eamonn Corrigan explained: “We received a report at around 2.45 pm that a man was sitting in the area when he was approached by a male who threw a liquid onto his face before running off in the direction of Ireton Street.
Anyone who witnessed the event or may have dash-cam footage is asked to contact Gardaí.
