A young man aged in his 20s has been killed in a two-vehicle road traffic collision in Co Louth which has also left a young woman in critical condition.
On Friday at around 5 a.m., Garda arrived at the site of the collision on the N33 near Richardstown, Dunleer.
One of the vehicle’s front-seat occupants, a male in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the site.
Later, a post-mortem examination will be performed on his body at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, where it was transferred from the site.
The driver and only occupant of the second vehicle was a lady in her 20s. She was brought to the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital in Dublin, where doctors there described her condition as critical.
In the same car as the deceased, two other men, both in their 20s, were transported to Our Lady of Lourdes, but the garda reported that their wounds were not life-threatening.
The road is currently closed to traffic to allow for a forensic examination of the scene to take place, with local diversions in place.
