Teenage boy dies after tractor crash in Offaly

A teenage boy has died following a fatal road traffic collision that took place in Offaly.

The incident occurred on Thursday night.

The teenager had been driving a tractor that crashed into a deep drain at Black Castle Bog, Clonmore near Rhode.

Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene shortly after 11 pm and found the teenager was fatally injured.

He was later shifted to Tullamore Hospital.

As of Friday morning, the road has been closed off to traffic so that Garda forensic collision investigators may carry out a technical examination.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward. Any road users with video footage including dash-cam footage are asked to make this available.
