Irish citizens took Covid vaccine outside EU will also receive Digital Covid-19 certificate

Irish citizens who received authorized Covid jabs outside of the European Union will also be entitled to avail Digital Covid-19 certificate, it was confirmed. But the vaccine they have received must have approval in the Republic of Ireland. The vaccines that are approved for use in Ireland are Pfizer/BioNTech, Moderna, AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson.

Initially, Irish citizens living in Northern Ireland will be given the certificates. For those who have Irish passport and live in Northern Ireland can now apply for certificates via https://covidcertificateportal.gov.ie/en-US/ website.

Application for citizens living outside of NI will be available from October 21. Meanwhile if the counties are issuing certificates with conditions as same as the EU Covid certificates, they can use the same. Such certificates are being issued by countries like Albania, Iceland, Morocco and Norway.

Applicants will need to have a valid Irish passport and proof of vaccination from the relevant issuing authority in the country where they were vaccinated.
