Gardaí are looking for witnesses after a man was killed in Co. Monaghan when the car he was travelling in collided with a stray horse.
When the collision occurred at Creevy, near Carrickmacross, on Saturday at around 9.20 p.m., the man, who was in his 40s, was travelling in the front passenger seat with two other men.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Emergency Services workers evaluated the two additional car occupants at the scene, but they didn’t need to go to the hospital. The horse died on impact.
The body of the man has been taken to the Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital mortuary in Drogheda, where a post-mortem examination will be performed.
Gardaí also appealed to those with camera footage (including dashcam) from the area at the time, to make it available to them.
