Measles Warning for Passengers on London to Dublin Flight

Passengers on a recent Ryanair flight from London to Dublin may have been exposed to the measles virus, according to a warning from the Health Service Executive (HSE). The alert affects those on board flight FR123, which landed in Dublin from London Gatwick at 8:10 pm on Thursday, May 16.

The HSE advises passengers to monitor for measles symptoms over the next 21 days. Symptoms include runny nose, sneezing, phlegm, red eyes, fever, and red spots on the body. Even if they don’t show symptoms, passengers should avoid contact with the elderly, children, pregnant women, and people with weakened immune systems until June 7.

Individuals who have received both doses of the MMR vaccine, previously had measles, or were born in Ireland before 1978 may be immune to the virus.

The Department of Health emphasizes the importance of vigilance and encourages affected passengers to seek medical advice if they develop symptoms. This precaution is crucial to prevent further spread of the disease and protect vulnerable groups.
