MIC makes history as 100 Indian-origin community members complete European luxury cruise

First-ever group cruise by Irish Indian-origin organization marks milestone in community engagement

Malayalis in City West (MIC), a prominent Indian-origin community organization in Ireland, has successfully completed a groundbreaking seven-night, eight-day cruise aboard the MSC Europa, one of Europe’s largest luxury ships, with approximately 100 members participating.

The “MIC on MSC 2025” voyage, which took place in October, represents the first time in Irish history that so many Indian-origin community members have undertaken a cruise together under a single organization’s leadership, marking a significant milestone for the community.

Kerala-Style Celebration at Sea

During the journey, participants celebrated one day in traditional Kerala style, donning ethnic costumes and creating a special cultural showcase for other passengers aboard the ship. The display of Kerala heritage provided fellow travelers with an immersive experience of Indian-origin cultural traditions.

Rapid Rise in Irish Cultural Scene

MIC has quickly established itself as a notable presence in Ireland’s cultural landscape. The organization’s debut Onam celebration was broadcast on Asianet channel, while their second Onam event featured renowned film actress Ramya Nambeesan as chief guest, garnering significant popularity and media attention.

The successful completion of “MIC on MSC 2025” follows these cultural achievements, demonstrating the organization’s capacity for large-scale event management and community mobilization.

Organizational Excellence

The cruise represents what organizers describe as “a great example of organizational excellence and teamwork,” with office bearers expressing confidence in preparing new initiatives in coming years.

The achievement underscores the growing organizational sophistication and financial capacity of Ireland’s Indian-origin community, as well as members’ desire for shared cultural experiences that strengthen community bonds while exploring Europe.
